Social class clip (lower class) - Misfits E4

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxgu5FWLO_Q

Characters: Curtis, Alisha, Kelly, Nathan & Simon

Sound

The 5 characters all have slightly different accents which shows there not all from the same place However, they all share the same use of bad language. Some of them don't come across as being very open minded or intelligent they also show some aggression towards each other which gives audience the impression that they are hard people to get along with. their personalities all stand out in there own ways. just from this short clip you can tell what type of person they each are. The non diegetic sound being played at the beginning where the naked man wakes up, it's quite an upbeat comedic type of track it creates humor.

Just after its been revealed to us that the naked man is nathan's mums friend Kelly asks why is he naked then Alisha replies "He's obviously some kind of pervert....or he's gay." this shows us that she is very small minded and homophobic. then Kelly awnsers "or he could be a rapist, there's loads of them round here" which shows she too is small minded. Simon then says "maybe hes a warewolf.....it's what happens in films, you turn into a warewolf when you've killed somebody and wake up somewhere naked....like in a zoo" this shows us he has a lack of intelligence because warewolves do not exist. througout this whole clip they use strong language for example "shit", "bollocks", and "twat". Their tones of voice vary between them they all stand out apart from Simon who's the quiet and slightly wierd character. you know that the non diegetic creates comedy because as the track is being played the teenagers burst out into laughter.

the ways they speak to one and other within this clips shows the audience that they dont show much manners and respect towards each other. the clip where this naked man reveals him self accidentally, the non diegetic track there creates humor as it is very uncommon to bump into a naked person laying on the floor also when we runs away he falls over creating more comedy as he is extremely embarrassed and the teens are quite surprised. this language that the teenagers used overall in this clip is they type of language slight rebellious, stereotypical teenagers use. it denotes that they aren't well spoken and they're quite angry inside.

Cinematography

A low angle shot is used at the beginning to introduce the characters to the scene. A two shot of Simon and Nathan is used. in this shot audience can see Simon's immature behaviour. There's a panning shot of Nathan trying to catch the naked man as he runs away it then stops as Nathan cant get past the barred fence. At 0.40 the rule of thirds is used in an over the shoulder shot from Nathan to Curtis, Alisha and Kelly as Alisha starts to speak. i connoted that Simon is standing on his own whilst the others are standing in a 3 and Nathan is facing them all. then lastly there's a close of Nathan putting his fingers in his ears and singing "LA LA LA"trying to block out Alisha's comments.

The low angle shot at the beginning creates a sense of dominance towards the group of teens, their all wearing the same clothes and doing the same job which shows the audience that they are in their own sort of gang. within the two shot of Nathan and Simon, Simon takes a picture of the naked man on his phone which suggests his immaturity and lack of respect for peoples privacy. The panning shot of Nathan chasing the man then stopping at the barred fence denotes his loss of freedom. this also suggests to the audience that the teens have been punished. Hand held camera is used to show tension within the group and the uneven balance in their personalities. the rule of thirds shows us that Simon is an out cast as everyone else is in the same shot at this point apart from him.

The panning of Nathan stopping at the barred fence connotes that for some important reason he cannot pass there the bars indicate some sort of prison which now explains why they are wearing orange jumpsuits looking like convicts. it clear now that they are doing community service as an alternative to going to jail.
